The Transportation History Exposition is the "main event" at the annual Key, Lock & Lantern Convention. This year, it will be held on Saturday June 2nd, at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel in the historic former DL&W station in downtown Scranton, PA. The expo will take place in the hotel's banquet hall, located on the east end of the building (turn left down the hall when entering from the front entrance). This event is not a typical "train show," but an exhibition of transportation and industrial history displays, and all types of related artifacts. While many exhibitors offer memorabilia for sale or trade, the main focus of the program is to provide the opportunity for serious historians and collectors to share their knowledge and to trade rare artifacts.
All history buffs and collectors are invited to attend, and may register as a "visitor" at the door on the day of the show for a $8 per person registration fee (If you are planning on attending the banquet dinner and/or train excursion, it is more cost-effective to register for the convention. See our Convention Page for details). Doors open at 9:30am, with the KL&L annual meeting and fundraiser sale taking place at 11:00am (don't miss the great deals on donated memorabilia), and exhibits closing at 2:30pm. Join the members of Key, Lock & Lantern for an enjoyable day of networking with fellow collectors & preservationists, viewing museum-quality exhibits, and finding something rare and unusual to take home for your own collection!
Registration for the Transportation History Exposition also includes admission to the Saturday evening railroad history programs in the Platform Lounge. At 4:00pm, author Tom Nemeth will give a presentation on his new book about the Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad, followed by a book signing. After a break for dinner (tickets are available on the Convention Page), programs resume at approximately 7:00pm. Slide & multimedia presentations will be given by KL&L members, starting with a program on the DL&W by Tom Nemeth.
